08 August 2026

The UN-FIRST Programme, along with CityUHK School of Energy and Environment (SEE) and i2Cool Limited participated in the EMSD E&M Young Ambassador (EMYA) Carnival 2026 held at the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) Headquarters in Hong Kong on 8 August 2026.

The Carnival brought together students, parents, educators, and industry professionals to promote innovation, engineering, and sustainable development.

Prof. Edwin Tso, Associate Dean and Chair Professor of SEE and Programme Director of the UN-FIRST Programme, delivered a sharing session on research and technological innovation, community engagement, and the role of engineering education in addressing global sustainability challenges. The session also introduced the vision and mission of the UN-FIRST Programme, highlighting its commitment to nurturing future leaders and innovators who can contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The FIRST team also hosted an exhibition booth featuring innovation and technology demonstrations, along with information about the FIRST Programme. Through hands-on engagement and meaningful conversations, visitors gained valuable insights into how research and innovation can create positive impacts on communities and the environment.

The enthusiastic participation of students and families throughout the day reflected the growing interest in sustainability and emerging technologies. Through outreach activities such as the EMYA Carnival, the UN-FIRST Programme continues to connect research, education, and community engagement, inspiring the next generation to develop innovative solutions for a more sustainable and resilient future.
